Shea’s Bolt Down Barriers are MassDot Certified

On Monday, March 18th, Shea Concrete Products of Wilmington, MA delivered precast, Bolt Down Barriers to the Larz Anderson Memorial Bridge construction project at the JFK and Memorial Drive intersection in Cambridge, MA. This was the first time Shea Concrete Products delivered this new product line to a jobsite. “Although we’ve always made Median Barriers, these barriers are unique because they can be bolted into the ground and use attachable J-JHooks, meeting the new FHWA MASH requirements,” Greg Stratis, Shea Concrete Products manager, said. “We’re proud to be one of only two certified manufacturers that can supply bolt down barriers to MassDOT projects.” For over twenty years, Shea Concrete Products has been manufacturing Median Barriers for highways throughout New England. This year, Shea Concrete became one out of only two certified manufacturers that can supply bolt down barriers to the MA Department of Transportation (MassDOT) projects. “I think (Shea Concrete’s Certification) is a great thing for the industry,” Matt Casey, Project Superintendent on the Larz Anderson Memorial Bridge project said. “Shea Concrete provides a great product. Project labor wise it installs three times quicker.” Designed by Easi-Set Industries, Shea Concrete Products’ Bolt Down Barriers are MASH-Tested and have an epoxy anchor system that uses only two bolt locations which allows fast installation, easy removal of barriers without flame cutting bolts or damage to the bridge deck. “It was a pleasure working with Barletta Heavy Equipment on the Cambridge, MA jobsite and we look forward to delivering our new Bolt Down Barriers to other jobsites throughout New England,” Stratis said.
